           Sample Breakfast Recipes

Usually everyone prefers a quick breakfast. The concern here is how to make  healthy, balanced and less time consuming breakfasts.

             Flakes of whole grains are a quick means of making breakfast. They are made from whole grains and are processed minimally. They can be soaked for 5 to 10  minutes in hot water or in milk (cow's or soy milk). The nut mix can be added along with dry fruit mix for a good, fast, healthy breakfast.

                Barley Flakes                                  Wheat Flakes

        Eating  the different flakes made from different grains is a good breakfast for healing a lot of ailments like hypertension, diabetes, constipation, cancer, allergies etc. Whole grains are a good source of fiber and nutrients. These grains are better than breakfast cereals prepared by food companies because you know the contents of what you are eating.

Oats Flakes                  Quinoa Flakes                   Rye Flakes  

 

For sweetness you can add dates, raisins, honey or brown sugar, jaggery (unrefined sugar) or  sucanat (crystal brown sugar).  

Brown rice flakes is a traditional breakfast used in Kerala, India. It is rich in fiber and vitamins.

General Recipe for Flakes

Ingredients:

  • Water or milk or soy milk  - 2 cups
  • Nutonic mix                    - 2 tablespoon
  • Oat or other flakes          - 1 cup
  • Mixed dry fruits               - 1 tablespoon

Preparation:

Boil milk or water and then add flakes, stir it well and allow to cool. Add the mixed dried fruits and nutonic mix to it.

Serve as breakfast.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes.

Beaten Rice  With Coconut

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of beaten rice or rice flakes (preferably red variety). The red variety is less-polished and rich in fiber and nutrients. Available in Indian stores.
  • ½ cup water or (milk - either dairy milk or almond milk or soy milk)
  • One tablespoonful of grated coconuts
  • Palm jaggery or raw sugar one tablespoon

Preparation:

To beaten rice sprinkle water (or milk) and mix to make it soft then add other ingredients and serve. Add nutonic and seed mix and also dry fruit mix. Again, added sliced banana and apple are also good.


NO COOKING REQUIRED

Banana Bread Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • Banana                   - one or two
  • Whole wheat Bread   - four slices
  • Dried dates             - Two
  • Honey (optional)

Preparation:

Slice banana into four pieces and also dates and make a sandwich with bread (toasted, if desired). This is an excellent breakfast.

Preparation Time: 2 minutes.
