Home delivery

Touching, massaging, soothing, holding this is a part of the sensitive heating support which women miss if they give birth in hospitals!

It is good to do home delivery with a Mid-wife who has modern clinical equipments to monitor the safety of mother and child during labor. However, precautious measures and arrangements to get them to a hospital if in any emergency need. usually if the mom takes care of her health such complications are rare.

The best part of home delivery is the lotus birth  which means not  cutting the cord and detaching the infant from the placenta. There are  immense advantages of not cutting the cord. These are the reasons we found

1. No stress to the new born baby. There is no pain. The baby is helped to deal with the  stress of adjusting to the new temperature,  breathing air directly not to mention about sound, light and visitors.  Cutting the cord is a stress to the kid because of the sudden loss of the placenta which was nourishing the fetus for more than 9 months.

2. There is no sudden loss of the blood and oxygen supply and so the infants brain and vital organs are not affected. Many cases of epileptic attacks in new born kids might be due to the sudden cut off of oxygen supply. This could be prevented by lotus birth or at least delay cutting the cord for at least for two hours.

3. We notice  less infections in these kids because of their better health.

4. In ancient cultures the cord was cut only after the placental delivery. This is a very healthy approach and is the partial alternative to lotus birth.

The cord with the placenta can be washed with warm water leisurely after the labor anywhere from 1 hr to 10 hrs. After washing the placenta can be wrapped in a diaper bag. To prevent any smell or decay add turmeric powder, dried basil or tulsi leaf, rosemary herbs etc.

The only difficulty is to carry the baby with the placental bag. Usually the cord will detach naturally between 3 to 10 days. It will naturally dry and detach from the baby without and pain or infection.

If you cannot do home delivery and lotus birth at least request your doctor to cut the cord after placental delivery which is approximately after 30 to 60 minutes.

One tumbler of neem oil after delivery is given traditionally with vethalai leaf on the tongue to avoid bitterness.  Immediately after birth this is given, then after 10 20 minutes lose motion once or twice will happen.
